I couldn’t go to the celebration in Washington, D.C., so joined in online while at work – I didn’t want to miss this historic event.
And I took photos, like I would have if I’d been there.
Granted, it’s easy to find much better images of these same things online.
But these tell the story from my point of view, sitting in an office 2,400 miles from D.C., hoping not to be interrupted by work duties for just a little while…

I'm so glad you were at least able to watch online. Aretha looked fabulous and sounded great. Perfect way to get the party started. I was lucky to be able to watch on a huge screen, surrounded by co-workers who clapped and cheered and even resisted booing when certain people came on screen. Quite a day. How weird do you think it's going to be for President Obama to go to work tomorrow! And his kids must be bouncing on every bed in the White House.
I love Aretha! I'm so glad she was part of this. Yes, it will be a whole new thing for Pres. Obama tomorrow. Here's your new job -- go for it!
And I love the thought of his daughters jumping on all the beds, just to check them out :>)
It was wonderful to watch wasn't it.
I was going through my record collection on Monday and found a forgotten gem of the March on Washington in 1963. I spun the album which contained recordings of the day's events including the entire speech by MLK Jr., President Kennedy, and songs by Odetta, Dylan, Peter Paul & Mary. How poetic to find it on the MLK National Holiday and day before the Inauguration, which moved me to tears.
