Along the Boise River

Walking along the river is always a treat. We're blessed with a good greenbelt system here.

What makes a river so restful to people is that it doesn't have any doubt - it is sure to get where it is going, and it doesn't want to go anywhere else.

Glory and power

We walked in the Nature Center in the late afternoon on Sunday and the light was wonderful for photos.

But the trees are probably a little more bare today.

Last night a cold front blew in. I was walking about the time it arrived; clouds rapidly darkened, wind picked up, and blew hard. Tops of tall trees rocked back and forth, waves of leaves arose and swarmed across yards and the streets. I put my hood up to try and block the dust and flying debris and headed for home, getting there right before the rain came.

Leaf glow

Sunlight through the leaves creates magic.

Deer season

We came across this fawn and its mother while taking a late afternoon walk through the Nature Center. They seemed quite comfortable with people around, as long as no one was loud or made quick movements.

The fawn eyed me as I took photos, but continued noshing through the garden. You can see the doe in the background; she literally plopped down on the ground for a rest. Of course, she turned her back on the spectators, especially those with cameras.

Red leaves of autumn

The colors are splendid right now. Deep rich colors, which is why I love this time of year.

The leaves glow in the sunshine like stained glass. And they shimmer when it's rainy; like walking through a life-sized watercolor painting.

If you live in a place where the leaves change color in the fall, take some time during weekend to enjoy...

Ready for the weekend

He’s got his flute, mug, and a magic hen that lays golden eggs (when he needs more $$).

What else could he possibly need??

Artist’s dream

A scene a painter would love (as well as a photographer)…

I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers.

Rainy

...and unusual clouds. Maybe someone with “cloud expertise” can tell us what type they are…

Here's hoping for a pot of gold (or at least a leprechaun)

Window “dressing”

As seen from a downtown street. At least they aren’t displaying any weapons…

Hollyhocks

I remember tall stalks of them, taller than I was as a kid. Bright pink with yellow stigmas. Claiming the ground by fence posts and power poles, swaying in the summer wind.
When fall came, the blooms stopped, and only the fat seed pods remained, waiting for the next spring.

Fruit of fall

Some thoughts about fruit...

One is wise to cultivate the tree that bears fruit in our soul.

Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.

Season of sunflowers...
