On hearing from an old friend...


A letter from a friend, we
compare past and present in words,
worlds apart between south and west
yet we lived in the same house
four years or more

It’s the commonality of structure—
walls, ceilings, floor,
rising out of the Midwest soil
we understand,
architecture of memory, of love
that makes this house
complete…
