skating on thin ice -
taken as worrisome warning

solely - yet there's another
reading. When ice thins,there's

promise, re
generation, skating those

surfaces beauty
of speed & gesture triumph

as much as any startling
heron's nearly human

call ignites
quickening of slow spirit

That's all kinds of gorgeousness.

Thanks, Petrea. That first photo is a fav of mine, too.

Anon, thank you for your striking poem of promise and regeneration xxoo

And, thank you, Hiker. The light was wonderful that day; glad I had a camera with me.

All kinds of gorgeousness indeed, both from Ms.M's photography and Anon's poetry.

I do hope that poor duck in the middle photo has found a tiny patch of clear water and is not stuck in the ice. Brr.

Anon and I thank you, Dive. :-)

About that duck in the middle photo: It's not a duck; it's a fake swan put there to keep flocks of geese away. There are 4 of these "birds", all currently frozen in place. Do they keep the geese away? No. The geese simply avoid them.

But the first photo is really gorgeous!

Beautiful, Mary. And if I ever have geese running amok in my garden, I'll know not to bother finding a faux swan in hopes of deterring them. ;)

Thank you, Sonia. I find the scene in the first photo relaxing and serene.

Hi Shell! You never know what useful information you'll find on a blog! Especially concerning geese ;-)

Thanks Ms M for your nice comment on my blog. I am glad you liked to see my daughter's dogs "hidden" under this big tree.

Hope you have a pleasant week ahead.

Love the first picture, it looks more like a painting. Sorta T. Kincaid-ish, except much nicer.
Patti Smith concert in the Rose City tomorrow night.

Sonia, I hope you have a wonderful week, too. :-)

Thank you, Mr. Sands. May the Land have horses, horses, horses running, running, running....
