Sunset glow

A thick blanket of snow on the foothills above the City of Trees.

That's gorgeous, Ms.M.
Is that really where you live?

Hi Dive,
Yes, this is the view looking down the street from our house. The city of Boise abuts the Foothills. We live in the valley, not too far from the Boise River. The Foothills rise up on the other side of the valley. There's a small ski resort, and hiking and biking trails in the hills. Boise also has greenbelt paths along the river.

Wow! Suddenly my neighbourhood seems flat and deflated.

From what I've seen, it looks like you have a lush, rolling landscape, with so much intriguing history. I really enjoy the photos you post of where you live :)

The Boise area, southern Idaho, is high desert that eventually rises into the Rocky Mountain range. It's a very dry climate. In the summer, the foothills are a burnt brown and we usually have range and forest fires.

I think each place has its own unique beauty and "flavor".

There's so much of America that's still big blank spaces to me. You could fit my entire country in your "neighborhood" (gosh, it actually hurt to type a Webster spelling).

I hope you didn't get permanent damage from Webster ;-)

True, the difference in size between America and England is huge. But I recall reading that at one time, "the sun never set on the British Empire"...
