The schools rarely close because of the weather. But today, nearly all the schools and colleges were closed due to hazardous roads.
Some people got the day off. But some of us had to drive to work --
At least it was beautiful with the snow clinging to trees and bushes; like a magic snowland.

Brrr-eautiful! Bummer you had to drive to work in the snow. I remember only one day off from work during the 7 years I lived in Minneapolis: there had been a storm that dumped 3 feet of snow!
Ooooh, 3 feet, that's a lot! Here, we usually don't get this much snow at once (we got over 10 inches). The main streets are ok now, but the side streets are deep and slushy and hard to drive through. Glad you don't have to deal with snow where you live :)
I think people still talk about that Halloween Storm of 1991. I am so happy to not have to deal with snow, but funny I'm now used to an apartment that gets no warmer than 60 in the winter, whereas when I was in Minneapolis it was always in the 80s indoors. If I want snow I can drive 4 hours to Lake Tahoe and get all I want.
