Rain and imagining

Today was a moody day, a diverse day, with many thunderstorms passing through. Hard rain. The sun popped out from time to time, trying to shine the heat back in. But the air smells wonderfully damp and it’s cool, not beastly hot.

It's the kind of day I’d love to be on a comfy screened in porch with large windows where I could watch the storms come in, hear the rain, and curl up on a rattan sofa with a good book. Maybe a story about ancient secrets, two voices whispering in a corridor, mysterious stairways…

Ooh, this photo loos so European! Where was is it taken? The black & white works really well with the interesting stone. I woke up to the news that there was a 20% chance of thunderstorms today. Unfortunately not even a peep of thunder. Guess the storms all headed your way instead. My friend in Minnesota used to live where she had just the sort of screened porch you describe, with comfy seating and lots of plants. Great place to sit and experience a summer storm. I do miss that.

This photo was taken in Boise. It's an old church which was abandoned and ended up as a crack house, but now is being cleaned and restored, and will become an art center for children.

We've had so much rain that the streets flooded. So much water at once was more than the storm drains could handle, since it's usually a dry desert climate here.

Your friend's porch sounds perfect for reading and storm watching!
