Anas platyrhynchos

Otherwise known as Mallards

Time for dinner!

Mighty fine dining here.

First you go,

Then, I'll go...

The word duck comes from Old English, dūce "diver", a derivative of the verb, dūcan, "to duck, bend down low as if to get under something, or dive". (Wikipedia)

Duck-billed "anas"? Surely Linnæus was having a giggle.
Wonderfully observed and equally gigglesome photos, Ms.M.

I knew you'd all like the ducks :-)

Yes, Dive, I think Linnaeus certainly was having sly laughter about this.
