On into February

January was a month of many stripes

with curious signs

and too many things happening at once,

culminating in sun and rolling clouds -- and six more weeks of winter

"too many things at once"
catching his long shadow

assumed six more weeks
of freeze. That ground

hog's fake
assurance! "Fence Slats Dividing

Light" knows better, knowing
vapor trails heavenward are only

too much until you focus in close
up, cross/hatching becomes a thread-

Wiser than ground
hog, fence shadow never stops

long enough to be visibly
definite or measured

as blistering omen

I did not see my shadow today. Not that it matters, though I do hope for rain.

It looks cold but pretty. Here, we need rain. Lots of rain

Thank you, Anon, for your wise poem xxoo

Petrea and Margaret, I SO hope for rain to come to your area. I've read articles about how bad the water shortage has become. Is there a goddess of rain?
