A few weeks ago, the store went dark. A sign on the door said it was "closed due to illness". And in today's news was a short article saying she'd passed away. She was 95.
The market is one of the very few neighborhood markets left in Boise. But with her passing, its future is uncertain. Will it continue as a neighborhood store? Will it transform into another kind of retail store? Will it be torn down and become an apartment complex or someone's house?
I didn't know Margaret, but I hope she is in a place where "happiness is spoken".

What a wonderful lady she must have been, Ms.M. And what a marvellous shop! Even if I didn't need anything I would simply have to go inside.
I do hope some sympathetic locals take the place over and continue her work.
She was a legend. Could be very kind, but could also be very feisty -- which is probably why she lived to a ripe old age. She will be missed in the community.
It will be interesting to see what happens to the market. She has no family members to take over. I'll try to remember to post a follow up in the future.
What a character. Sounds like she lived and loved a rich, full life.
