Leisurely blooms

For the longest time, I didn't think the little bulbs on the end of the branches were alive. They looked kind of crusty, like leftovers from last spring. Other trees and flowers bloomed, but this tree refused.

But, it fooled us. It was just taking its own sweet time during this cool spring we've had. And now the blossoms are sturdy and gloriously pink.

That coral colour is amazing, Ms M. A nice reminder for me that sometimes things need to blossom in their own good time.

Oh, wow! What an overdose of glorious late-Spring colour, Ms.M.
What on earth are those? They look weirdly like some strain of magnolia, but if they are then they're over a month late. Please set my confused mind at rest.

Thank you, Shell. Yes, patience is the word here. :-)

And Dive, to put your confused mind at rest, this is a dogwood tree. (I didn't know either until I asked someone who knows plants). They aren't native to Idaho, but will grow if sheltered and watered well.

How strange! Dogwood over here is a different beast altogether. Yours is much nicer.
